My Process, as a journey

While each project is a little different, with varying requirements, stakeholders, and goals, there’s a generally consistent flow from Project Kickoff to handing off with the Dev team. Some projects can be completed within a couple of days, while others might take a few weeks depending on user feedback, testing, and alignment of all the necessary factors.

My process is always user-centered.

  • 01 Project Kickoff

During this phase, I meet with stakeholders (usually business and team leads) to discuss the problems we are trying to solve, project goals, and how they align with business objectives.

I usually create quick documentation and rough sketches to capture our initial thoughts.

  • 02 Research & Discovery

Next, I conduct research. I interview users, and analyze solutions implemented by other businesses to gain insights on how to address the problem. I aim to understand what users are currently doing, what they intend to achieve, and define the necessary feature requirements.

During this phase, I document use cases and detailed feature and user requirements.

  • 03 Ideation & Concept Development

Now, we delve into the core of the design process. In this phase, I create wireframes to outline the layout and prototypes to test user flows and designs with actual users. This phase is iterative, based on feedback obtained from user testing.

Deliverables include journey maps, wireframes, prototypes, and supporting documentation.

  • 04 User Interface Design

During this phase, I focus on visual design and interaction design. I continually test the designs, ensuring they meet the desired objectives.

I create mockups that depict the actual appearance of the tool and develop a design library for the engineers to reference.

  • 05 Handoff with Dev

To ensure that the product is built according to specifications, I document and hand off the project to the engineers in the most suitable format for them. This may involve creating an in-depth wiki or providing a video walkthrough, depending on the circumstances. I continue to support the project and development team by being available, answering questions, and creating any necessary collateral during the build phase.
